A LIFETIME OF LOCAL SERVICE

Hal Cormier was elected as the Member of the House of Assembly for St. George’s–Humber in 2025, bringing a lifetime of community service, leadership, and teamwork to the role.

A dedicated resident of western Newfoundland, Hal has always believed in the strength of working together to build healthier, more resilient communities.

Hal first entered public service on the Town of Pasadena Council in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021. Known for his thoughtful and steady leadership, he served as Chair of both the Public Works Committee and the Recreation Committee.  His work on Council focused on improving essential services, promoting active living, and supporting local families.

WORKPLACE LEADER, COMMUNITY BUILDER

In addition to municipal leadership, Hal brings more than 30 years of professional experience with Corner Brook Pulp & Paper.  As an Occupational Health & Safety Committee Representative and a certified Lift Truck Trainer through IVES Canada, he was recognized for his commitment to workplace safety, team development, and responsible decision-making—values that guide his work in public life.

Hal’s service extends well beyond his professional and political roles.  A passionate volunteer, he has served as President of the Marble Mountain Ski & Ride Club, contributed actively to local School Councils, and played key roles in triathlon committees in both Corner Brook and Pasadena.  He believes deeply in supporting community events that bring people together and promote wellness.

MISSION

Empowering Communities, Building a Better Future

Born and raised in western Newfoundland, Hal is proud to call Pasadena home. Whether through Council work, volunteer, or workplace leadership roles, he remains committed to building a stronger, more connected region—one where every voice matters and people have every opportunity to succeed.
